there have been posts about this subject before. as other people have said, eBay products arent the best, in fact there was one turbo that was made out of somekind of resin...so youre better off spending more for the brand name product, not only because of the name, but because you get what you pay for. simple as that.

Damn, here we go again, try searching for SS autochrome just about anywhere. The topic has been discussed over and over. I have seen the pictures about said turbo that split apart but i didn't see any resin.

In short, you somewhat get what you pay for. Even if the turbo keeps going strong, you're still left with a hotside A/R that will need a dieselengine or something with quite some displacement to get the turbo spooling ;)

Ebay is a hit or miss type thing. You take a chance to save some cash. I would say you should spend good money on a turbo. There is no way to know what you are buying before hand with that type of thing. You may wind up spending more money in the long run.

It might be a big cost but it's worth it to spend the money. how would you feel if this ebay turbo blow to bits and you sucked half of them and screwed you engine over then not only are you buying another turbo but now your buying/rebuilding an engine too.

killarb634 are u looking into buying a turbo??? If so check out the misc. vendor section, there is a couple of precision turbos for sale . pt61, gt40 and more at good prices. As far as ebay turbos go if its not a name brand turbo i.e garret, turbonetics don't buy it. xs power turbos are crap.....just my 2 cents...:aigo:

I've had friends that have bought those SS AutoChrome turbo kits with mixed results. The turbo's they use are supposed to be Garrett's but the issue's have always been with the manifolds. They sometimes tend to break or crack around the flanges under boost. Rust can also be problematic as well.

Just be careful where you buy from.
I like mine, and it's boosting great, had it on for about a month now.
Just be careful, I got screwed over pretty bad, had to wait almost a month to get it, partly because it took them like 3 and half weeks to actually send out a turbo, and that turbo was the wrong one (for an mr2, not supra), so I spent 118 to ship it back overnight and waited another week to get the correct one.
I'm still waiting for my money back for the shipping I paid as well as the core exchange of 150 bucks.
That was from miketurbofl or miketurboincfl or something,
they had good feedback, but I got screwed.

i don't know about being made of resin, but i recall an ebay turbo where the housing's were epoxy'd together

oh yeah...there you go epoxy. i remember though one of them looked like it was painted silver/metal.

My guy was better.. I was looking for a spare turbo... Saw a 'rebuilt' ct26 on ebay and emailed the guy to see about it...

Price suddenly went from 200 to 500$

I see his turbo or maybe he has more all the time... Low price for the bidding but if you get interested the price changes.
(the turbo I was after timed out before he replied to me and when he replied he did not quote 200$ he said 575$)
