ebay short shifter review

I noticed that there were not to many reviews on the ebay shifter and the few that there were people bad mouthed it without ever owning one. Well i had the opportunity to buy one used on ebay for a good price and i just got around to installing it. Installation is about a 6/10, 10 being hard. I did not have instructions so i had to guess where all the bushings went. Installation took about half hour because i didn't have long enough bolts or instructions but basically the shifter comes with 2 bushings, 2 brackets that form the pivot and two more semi circle peices that sit in the stock shifter hole to act as a lower pivot. The white bushing gets installed on the lower part of the pivot assembly while the black sits on the upper part. I recommend packing the assembly with grease. As for performance, i am coming from a sogi short shifter. I feel that the ebay shifter is smooth at shifting altho it takes more force to shift into gear (its really not bad, about the same amount of force as the sogi mod). my throw is about 40% less which is great. The shifter is threaded for a honda shift knob m10 (toyota is m12) so that kinda sucks bust i scored a nice leather momo shift knob. The knob sits a tad higher than the sogi mod, i would say about .5-1inch. For the price i don't think that this is a bad shifter at all, just make sure u buy the right revision. From what i hear the one with the straight shaft is the bad one and the one with a angled shaft(what i have) is the better of the two and the more expensive. I hope this helps someone that plans on purchasing this in the future.

One of the complaints I read was that the lower bushing was too small, and made the shifter feel loose. I know that on nashman's shifter, there is ZERO play at all, just solid movement. How does this one compare?

i owned that short shifter...for about two weeks,

i couldnt get on with the hard shifting, and the pivot bushing in the ball joint started to disintergrate as it was way too big,

and the small bushing which actually contacts the gearbox mechanism was way too small and ended up falling out, it buzzed aswell, all the time

i was very cautious during assembly, plenty of grease, did everything as the diagram said,

and was out one night and the fuckin thing fell to bits inside,

after that fiasco i bit the bullet and bought the C's which was amazing,

i would avoid it, get the C's and have proper short shifting.

umm there is a little play between gears but no play in the actual shifter pivot if thats what u mean. I had the same play between gears with my sogi /upgraded bushing setup.

i actually had this problem when i first installed it. Turns out i had the bushings installed wrong and i switched them around so that they were in correctly and everything was perfect. white bushing goes on bottom and cups the pivot wheres as the black on goes on top and cups the upper pivot.

Don't forget that there are two more peices in the puzzle, they are semi circles that need to be installed to support the lower bushing

maybe the diagram was wrong, cause i didn't have a diagram to look at... also i never tried the c's or any other shifter besides the sogi. I'm sure the c's is better but i'm here to review the ebay one that has been getting alot of crap. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and i will upload a video also of showing how easy it is for me to get into gears.

nope, no mods. I just recommend new shifter bushings and it was good besides that.

^the short shifter uses diff bushings, i had the marlin crawler bushing for my sogi shifter and it didn't fit with the new short shofter

For the short amount of time I used this shifter, and as I will more in the future, it was harder than stock to get into gears but much shorter and easier to hit gears with under power. I liked it, but I had it hooked up for about a week so longevity I haven't tested.
