E55 AMG

was tooling around on a long straight with a friend in the supra, and we provoked an older guy an a nice silver mercedes benz E55 AMG. rolled up to a red, and launched as hard as you can launch on beat sawblade tires. pulled about half a car mid way through 2nd, then i shifted a little too slow and he got right next to me on the 2-3 shift. held just about dead even (i think he may have been slowly pulling) until my 180kph limiter kicked in. good race, and i felt a lot better about it when i looked up the hp for those cars.

me: 297rwhp/285rwtq twin turbo 2.5L I6, stock twins 1jz, bone stock car on sawblades
him: 469bhp supercharged 5.4L V-8, 4092lb curb weight, E55 AMG

cliffs: pulled 1/2 car until bad shift, held about even until jza70 speed limiter took over.

Fastest car I've ever been in was an E63...
Scared the PISS outta me.

Yes, got to roll around in an E63 (6.2L n/a) for a while -- it is freak nasty. And the previous E55 is about as fast (5.5L supercharged); it actually has more torque, just longer gears (5 speed instead of 7). The E63 is a hair faster, but they would both beat the crap out of almost everybody on this forum from a dig to 100 mph. Absolutely positively disgusting acceleration.

The one before that one (5.4L n/a) would have been much more of pushover, but if he's certain it's the newer body style, it could have been a misbadged E550 (same powerplant as previous E55).

CLK 55 V12 Biturbo = fastest car ever. Dont even look at it. Gonad explosion

Uhm, yeah except there's no such thing. Mercedes only has 2 biturbo powerplants, a 5.5L V12 (S600, SL600, and CL600 models from '03+) and the 6.0L V12 (S65, SL65, CL65). CLK was available as 55 (5.4L n/a or 5.5L supercharged depending on year) or currently as 63 (6.2L n/a). Very fast, but any of the aforementioned S or CL is still faster.

You know it's not really a "race" if the other guy doesn't know what's going on.
A stock SLK would make you look like an idiot. And you're talking about an AMG Benz?
The SLK and SL are retractable hardtop, CLK is hard- or softtop retractable.
And SupraBlur is right, no CLK55 Biturbo.
Those 6.0 Biturbos are incredible powerplants though. Even in a big, heavy S-Class, that car was the SCARIEST thing I have ever driven. I'd take an SL65 over an SLR McLaren, just as fast, but you can drive the SL more.
If you want to get a Mercedes kill, stick with early 80's diesels, I'm sure you can hang with some of them.
