e-brake question

Is there a diagram in here anywhere on how the e-brakes work on the mk3?

Everymorning when I leave for work, I feel.hear a weird grindish noise, but it goes away fairly quickly. I'm wondering if it's the e-brake sticking a bit...

the rear brakes are whats called a drum in hat setup. disc brakes as the main braking and inside of the rotor is a drum which facilitates the emergency brake shoes. its quite simply a cable that actuates it. jack up your rear wheels, put the car in neutral, and see if they turn freely, or if you hear a rubbing and feel resistance.
