Well its not TERRIBLE but it pisses me off none the less.... Was stopped at a light and this dump truck didnt slow down in time even though there was PLENTY of time to do so...and tried to change lanes at the last second ( I guess better then plowing directly into me) and clipped my rear bumper with his tire.

Pulled over exchanged information etc.... took all i had in me not to kill him.....called the company and they are waiting on three quotes from body shops from me now. Im trying to figure out my next step...i think im going to just get three of the most expensive quotes i can get from shops i know that will fix it PROPERLY because honestly thats all i really care about. If i make out with more in the end great.

Heres some pics.... like i said...not terrible but a nice sized scuff mark and in the last pic on the left you can see where its cracking....it looks to be the paint thats cracking and not the bumper so thats good at least....

just do what i did, ask for them to cut you a check. take it to a local body shop and have them paint the ENTIRE car for that price :)

btw: most expensive body shop will more then likely be the dealership

well they said they wanted three quotes from body shops....so i dont know if they are going to cut me a check or just pay whatever bill... but when i fax them the quotes im going to tell them i only trust "this body shop" and make them pay for that one..... etc....it would be nice if I GOT the check...but im thinking they are going to just pay the shop itself.

im not sure about the state of FL. but in arizona it is ILLEGAL for an insurance company to require you to goto a body shop.

Insurance companies here are not aloud to require someone to goto their body shop or goto one at all. I would check into your laws to make sure something doesnt happen like you get scammed.

I just recently found this bit of information out about our AZ laws. My car got hit and i was all ready to throw 4 or 5 quotes at the other company. I started mentioning it to them and the guy simply told me by law we have to give you the option to cut you a check, or goto your own body shop. To say the least i was a little surprised; i got quoted $2061.78 for all my damages to the car. They wanted to repair just the front fender light and bumper. I took the car down to a local body shop and getting every imperfection bodywise on the car fixed as well as a total repaint for $1700.

this is pics of my damages etc. much more extensive then what happened to yours but still.

edit:
I hope everything works out well.

I just realized your car is pearl paint. Take it to a body shop thats really nice and expensive and tell them your worried that the paint wont match perfectly. So you want them to repaint the whole car. The bodyshop might be willing to say that he wont be able to match the paint perfectly because of the pearl tint and the entire car will require a repaint.

Damn, I guess you should part it out. Dibs on the wheels & coilovers. :biglaugh:

Seriously, if you want your car fixed right, follow my advice. First, go to the emergency room, call Meyers & Meyers ("For the People") & have them meet with you. ;) My best friend from highschool works there, I'll tell him you need some of his help. :biglaugh:

Tell them they can stick it, you are getting ONE quote, the place you want to take it. Sounds like they don't want to file with their insurance, which wouldn't require this crap, just the insurance company itself would look the car over and cut you a check. You are holding the cards here, not them

Bummer, It's hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like some of that may buff out? But dont do anything to it untill the insurance looks at it...

edited: Sorry i didn't read the part about cracking... Make them replace and repaint if needed.. Goto the best shops around.. Stand your ground..

Don't be worried too much about it. You usually end up better then when you started if you are the victim in a car accident. Atleast that's been my experience. I wrecked my 87 turbo and they cut me a check for $2200, and then I sold the car to a guy, wrecked for $1800.

ok well heres the problem....the only way to fix it PROPERLY...is for the WHOLE car to be painted... i have pearl paint and was told there is no way it would match perfectly unless the whole car was painted...

i got quoted for about 4500 bucks to spray the whole care with 3 stage pearl..... do you think this reasoning will fly with this company? saying that the paint i have is "special pearl" and that the whole car needs to be painted otherwise it wont match properly....in essence its 100% the truth....

any more input on that?

that sounds likely. It would help to get written proof of this excuse from a body shop.

In the case of $4500 i bet money they total the car out on you. $2200 in damages to my car and they were at 60% before totalling. Just another $1300 and they would of totalled the car.

well if the company isnt going through their insurance and are just paying out of pocket to not have their insurance go up then it wouldnt total anything huh....

i dunno...im just trying to figure out what to do as i have NO CLUE when it comes to shit like this and have never been in any kind of accident before.

Go to the 3 most expensive dealerships in town. Go to Mercedes dealership, Cadillac, and the most expensive insurance repair place you can find. Play the game and win, its no big deal.

well i went to toyota and they wouldnt even give me a written quote on it...they said it would be at the least 4500 bucks...and they dont even really do full car resprays etc.... then iwent to a performance collision place and got a written quote for a full respray for 4800.....
