Hello gents. My 90 with stock driveshaft has MAJOR radial play (think up and down as you lay under the car). The play is at least 0.25 inch, maybe up to 0.75 inch. I'm not sure if this is normal or not. My initial thought was it means that the bearing is absolutely toast, but I'm unsure.
My reason for checking was that I have an annoying chatter occasionally when going into gear and creeping around in parking lots. It only chatters when slipping the clutch into 1st and R under 2-5 MPH. I've never noticed vibration while driving and it's happened on this car with multiple engines, differentials and clutches. I have a full face disk and it just doesn't feel like clutch chatter.
I'm sure many of you have messed around with your driveshaft and replaced the bearing or the whole driveshaft. Is the radial play in the carrier bearing normal?
