Just as the title states. Gear oil is on the ground. Its sliding down my new d/s and making a nice little trail on the ground. The shifting is progressivly gettin worse. In the morning second gear is almost non existant untill the drivetrain heats up. Theres some noise coming from somewhere at highway speed. With my limited knowledge i believe my w-58 is about to kill itself. Today is the last day im driving the car untill i can have it looked at.Any insight is always appreciated

sounds like its the rear main seal. The reason shifts could be getting worse is your low on gear oil and your shifting problem is also because of that. Thats from what i know and experienced myself with other vehicles. Pull the check plug on the top of the tranny, i believe its a 24mm, and top off the fluid then do a couple laps and see how it is. just my .02

The fluid WAS topped off before the d/s install. New toyota gasket was installed after the tranny was dropped to check for some other misc. problems.Installed the new d/s and few days later dripping. Now a week later the dripping has doubled. Drive and ride quality has also been decreasing.I smell the gear oil burning when im on the highway, that can not be a good sign

are you sure the d/s was properly cut cuz if its off by any little bit it could have messed up the seal already if its the improper length and everything like that

i agree with supramacist your gonna have to pull the d/s and possibly the tranny and if your pulling the tranny might as well do a clutch and everything thats there with it................. or just find some way to fix the leak

Its not your rear main. The rear main is on the engine. If that were leaking youd see motor oil, not tranny fliud. Its either your slave cylinder leaking at the trans. or your output shaft seal.

The first time the tranny was dropped the clutch was inspected, it checked out fine.I wanted my friend to check it out after i went through some flood water a while back, but my issue was the d/s, which i originally thought was a clutch issue.

I had my slave cylinder looked at along with mastercylinder when the tranny was dropped. The m/s showed some slight leakage but the slave was still going good. The output drive seal maybe at fault. Is it possible for the whole outputshaft to go bad?

Yeah if the bearing was bad and it sat in there for a long time it could have put a groove in the output shaft. Resulting in a leaking seal. But that is very rare. It would have to have a lot of weight on it as well. Its probably just your seal. Thats an easy fix.

Thanks for the input. As soon as i can have it looked at and confirm what the issue is ill be sure to post

Could it also be that the extra vibrations from the 1 piece driveshaft has worked the 6 nuts bolting the rear extension housing to come loose? The torque specs on them are only 27 lbs.
