i will soon be doing a single turbo setup on my 1j powerd sc300. i have decided to get one of driftmotions turbo set up. the only thing i am unsure of is which turbo to get. my short term goal is 400rwhp and full boost by 4000rpms. this will mostly be a highway car, with a few trips down the 1/4. would i be better off getting the 60-1 with the .70 hotside or should i just go ahead and get the t04z and be done with it?

Where in Texas are you from? I had a 60-1 but it had a blown seal on the hot side so I bought the to4z. I should have it tomorrow or Friday I'll get back to you when I install it. What mods do you have? I have 550's, MKIV fuel pump, and safc. I know that the to4z is a bigger turbo so the plan is to buy some bc 264's to help push the bigger turbo.

i am in the dallas area. i am kinda leaning on more towards the 60-1. as of now the car is completely stock. i have been saving some cash for about 6 months and finally have enough to start doing some mods to the car. i will be added the dm turbo kit, a fmic, 440cc injectors, safc, supra pump, ngk wideband, and a full 3 inch exhaust setup. also lookin into trying to get some modded 2jz cams to work in a 1j.

^+1 If you want to go 60-1 you should get bigger injectors at least 550's. The 60-1 is good for 500 hp and the 550 injectors are good for 550 hp. That would be a good combo for you. I just bought that TO4Z Turbo that is good for 650 hp so i would need to upgrade my 550's to some thing in the 700cc range.

You'd be best off getting an aftermarket fuel rail and 670cc top feed injectors along with the Driftmotion fuel dampener bypass. I wouldn't trust anything over 400 RWHP on a stock ECU and SAFC. You'd be best off getting a standalone. Also, over 400 RWHP you're going to need either a 2nd fuel pump or 1 big one. I chose dual Walbro 255 fuel pumps for my setup for now.

a TO4z would not be a whole lot of fun on a 1J.. full boost at 5k is rather lame IMO.

I agree completely. Full boost at 4000 is the most I would want a street car to lag to.

Trust isn't the issue the tune is. My buddy pulled 576 on a 2j single with an SAFC n wideband IIRC. I'll have to talk with gonzy. As far as i know all he has is a wideband and safc2

440's would be good for ~400whp (approx. 80% duty cycle).

there are also plenty of folks putting down ~450whp safely through a 1J with 550's (approx. 80% duty cycle), Walbro or equivalent, and an AFC.

for anything above that, a standalone and bigger injectors may be needed..
