I come from a land down under
I stopped by the truck races one afternoon here while out driving ;)

The Circuit they were using is commonly referred to as "the Kart track" by normal race drivers (Winton raceway in Victoria)

At that time you stood maybe 20 feet from the straight to spectate, There's a corner coming onto the straight and watching 20 of these 6 ton monsters at 160 Kph (limited to 160k/100mph) sideways and thinking of the physics and that we were in the direct path if something went wrong made it one the most terrifying motor sports event's I've ever been to :D

that's pretty cool. isn't the center of gravity on those trucks deceptively lower than it seems? since the engine is under the driver.

that would be fun.... :p scary, but fun.

I can't wait until "The Fast and the Furious - Pikes Peak" comes out and everybody who actually appreciates cars hates rally racing :biglaugh:

Ive always wonderd how these trucks dont flip over on their faces when they hit the brakes..I guess the engine is close to the bottom.
Also, arent their brakes water cooled?

i think the engine in a snub-nose is down low and slightly behind the driver, so near the back of the cab. sadly sometimes the cab actually will slam forward, the truck won't tip but rather the cab comes unlatched (like it does for working on the engine).

I had a relative killed that way I believe, he was a distant relative that i never met, so I can't really recall it that well.

This is what the underlying profile looks like:
