When i put my downpipe back on when I stuck my engine back in the car I Noticed that it was rather close to the speedo cable. Its pretty much almost touching the cable. I dunno if thats fine or not or if the heat from it will melt it or wreck it. Mabye I put on my speedo cable wrong when re-installing the tranny but I don't think thats it. the downpipe is just some random no name brand one(got it with the car when i bought it like 4 years ago). Anyone else have this problem?

mine is like that as well, but the speedo cable is metal inside of metal with lubricant, and the stock DP was close as well...

I had mine seize up apparantly, because when I bought the car it was broken at the spot it crosses over the downpipe. I am planning to wrap the whole downpipe with exhaust heatwrap so it won't happen again.

The stock downpipe has a heatshield bolted to it for that very purpose.

The speedo cable should be held with a body clamp against the floor pan in that area.

I fabbed up simple heatshield for my downpipe to protect the speedo cable.
