I have the typical rust along the door underneath the trim, as spring is approaching I'd like to take care of it. Can anyone offer advice so I'm not taken by the body shop.

Depends what your shop offers you. Might be cheaper to get a good condition door same color as yours as at a junk. Again depends on the shop and severity of the rust.

How is the quality of the rest of the paint on the car? When I had my car done I was able to blend the panels since my paint was near perfect except for the rust spots. Have you taken off all the trim? I bet you will find more rust than you think you have now. I know I did.;)

I will take a picture of my rust spots and add to this thread as well since the OP opened it. I'm going to fix my rust this summer but they are on both quater panels :(.

No way I can find another piece to replace if the damage is too severe like a fender or something. So I'm forced to take it to a shop and would like to know aprox how much would it really be so I wouldn't be had either.

Estimates will vary from shop to shop, just take it to a couple of places and get an estimate, you have nothing to loose. Then post your prices here and I'm sure some body work inclined people will be more than happy to tell you if the pricing in question is appropriate, but only if you can post pics of the rust spots.

I guess I will post what I paid as well.

I had rust behind a few different mouldings on both sides of the car. I had rust in both rear fenders and they both required new metal. I had a rust hole in the bottom of the passenger door as well. There were also small bubbles around the door handles.

The car was painted on both sides and blended into the roof/fenders.

I paid $1180 before tax. I don't know if this is good or not but I don't care. I am very satisfied with the work and no rust has returned in 3-4 years.
