Don't use an ammonia-based glass cleaner when detailing..

I used some windex to clean various interior parts of my car today, and the text for the drivers lumbar and power mirrors controls in the center console faded significantly after wiping them down with a paper towel with a little windex in it.

None of the other stuff in the interior was affected, but I figured I'd post this up so people don't make the same biff I did!

thats why its called glass cleaner.

Never had a problem until now, and since armor all just dehydrates the shit out everything I'd never bothered with anything else. I usually just use a damp toothbrush on the console controls but it was a smidge dirtier.

Now that I think about it, this reminds me why I don't bother to post anything anymore. I can't even make a friendly comment about a mistake I made so that others might learn without getting a snide comment from someone. Oh well, hopefully someone will appreciate it.

mink oil rocks! its great for leather, so make your leather shift boot look like new, and hell, smear that shit all over the rest of your interior! use only a little bit other wise everything will get greasy and nasty. makes everything look great.

I didnt mean to sound rude, sorry. and a great thing to use other than windex and armorall is basically anything from meguiars. they rock. mink oil works great too. and thanks for the tip for the wheels, I'll have to try it some time.

You guys are crazy.. Mink oil? WTH..
I use canola oil in a spray bottle. Just apply liberally and let sit. Using a slice of bread, even out any thick spots on the dash, so forth.
Sit back and admire the glossy interior while you enjoy that piece of bread soaked in oil.

Another tip: It makes your carpet and seats SHINE like new.. It's unbelievable.
