im replacing my turn signal assembly and have got my wheel off and everything, but theres this metal collar which is disabling me from continuing on. I cant, for the life of me, figure out how to get it off.

The turn signal assembly is cake to remove...you take off the steering wheel and then remove a few screws, I'm not sure what approach you are taking but it seems as if you are over complicating it.

You removed part of the steering column? All you had to do was take the center piece out of the steering wheel, undo the bolt, and pull the steering wheel off. After that the collar is just held on by screws.

Put it back together, then take the wheel off using a puller....

Like many have stated, there are a few screws that hold it on.

you should be able to rent a puller at a auto parts place like autozone or advanced auto. you just basically buy it for its cost and when you bring it back, they refund you as long as everything is there

Put theassembly back together and grab the wheel at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock and pull moving slightly back and forth (not to much).

Be careful it'll come off all at once and it's easy to hit yourself in the face with it.

ohh so i can do it without a puller!

My friends got a shop and they said they'd do it but i got bored yesterday and didnt want to wait on them so i tried to do it myself.

I've got the assembly back in and the 2 back plastic pieces on.. I think i may go try and willie-nillie it out of there so i can smash this out today.

the car pings/knocks at around 2,500rpm. they said its in the cam shaft and they're going to open it up.....sometime.
guh.
