I have a Catco 3" hi-flow cat, passes emissions testing (or used to when I had to submit to it) and provides great flow, no issues whatsoever.

I use a Randon Technology Cat, 4". I baught this years ago and paid big money for it ($500). I am not too sure of what is being offered now, but 5 years ago, this was great but now this is way too expensive. The design that I purchased looks like a test pipe but is really a cat. After a few years the element blew out of the cat itself and into my exhaust. That was not cool. It would have been a good idea if the body was 6" diameter and the inlet + outley were 4 ". This way the emement inside would not be able to go anywhere. That's my 2 cents.

Woah, I paid $45 for my cat 4 years ago from summit racing.

i have a 3" RT hi-flow cat i purchased years ago (dont remember where) when i first bought the car. the stock exhaust was rusted to hell and i had to do something. i have test pipe that i normally run, but when i get "inspected," the mechanic says i need a cat (or something that looks like a cat). so i pop it on and get it "inspected." as far as performance goes, it works well but i dont have too much experience with it. i dont notice too much of a difference but im sure there is some.

Got a metal core cat from magnaflow (carsound) through raptor racing.

Power gains without cats are minor (unless they're clogged), and this has been proven time and again on the dyno and flowbench.

This cat also passed smog with flying colors. I should have taken a pic of the inside...

I've got a 3'' random tech cat and it's fine. I cant tell any performance differences on 3'' mandrel piping, but i know it flows good, i can see through the damn thing when i look through it so its not THAT restrictive.

Got it for free brand new (dont ask) so its fine. I would not pay more than $70 for one though, just not worth it i would just get a test pipe.

I had a three in Metal Substrate cat from Random Tech. It works well, 49 state legal (I think it might be 50 state.. looking for the CARB #) and power loss is minimal.

If not doing to much crazyness, then it works well (no anti-lag, no real massive retard for traction control, etc)

I put in a metal substrate R/T 3" cat and it did improve flow on my setup.
I had been running the second stock cat previously. With the new cat the 7m is louder, but throaty. Nothing like it :)
Haven't had to pass smog yet but if everything is tip top shape, passing shouldn't be an issue.
