never met him, but heard of him. Didn't make some sort of sheet aluminum liner for his engine bay?

yea he had those aluminum panels in his engine bay.
And Shaeff his motor was far from a stock 7m.
he had forged internals and did that 730rwhp with a t66 along with a 50shot of the laughing gas.
