Do RC 550cc injectors require new grommets? As in, the ones that sit in the head? The ones that are in there appear to be a little loose on the RC injectors, they were tighter on the stock 440s. I thought these were plug and play - except for the clips, of course.

I was going to dig about the HPF website to see if they stock something for this, but they appear to be offline at the moment. :(

Do you mean new as in different from stock?
To be safe I would throw in new grommets - I learned my lesson re-using the o-rings, as soon after installing my 550s the #6 injector sprung a pretty severe leak (and I was driving 185km home from where i was working on the car)

^^ I don't think he is talking about the o-rings that are used to seal the injector to the fuel rail. The grommets I got with my 550's were loose also, I just reused my old ones and had no leaks. When I finally did a complete overhaul on my motor, I changed them out with the set that came with the overhaul gasket set that fit better than the ones RC provided. Should'nt you be able to by some at Napa?

BTW- where ya been grimmy?
Thanks Doc! :)

Last few months have been summer... I'm usually pretty inactive over the summer anyhow, I spend most of my free time driving, mountain bike riding, etc. Add in the fact that I switched jobs and we welcomed another baby boy into the family in May, and I've had less time than usual!

The Supra has been effectively off the road since May - although it was still insured and running until mid August, when I tore the engine out to install a new clutch, JE pistons, MAFT Pro, 550s, etc, etc. Since then I've been waiting on parts or on the injured list and just generally lazy.

....back to the issue of the grommets...when I installed my RC 550's, I used brand new Toyota grommets and yes, I thought they felt a little looser than they did on the stock injectors. I used them anyway since I didn't have a source for anything specific from RC. I sprayed starting fluid down around each injector and it doesn't appear that I have any leaks.

Hey Dave;

Thanks for just answering my next question also!:bigthumb: I just bought RC' 550's from Selz202, and had heard about re-doing the grommets as well. The o-rings can be had from several different places, but from what everyone is/has said, you have to deal with Toyota for the grommets.:aigo:
Looking forwatd to seeing you at upcoming meets!:icon_bigg
