I always see thread titles with 56k no go. Are people still actually using dial up? My cell phone is probably faster than dial up.

i'm bad, i'm nationwide
lol, im in one of those said areas. my current choices are dial-up(no go, because i donr use a land line) satelite, (waay too expensive, and limited bandwidth) or cell..using that one, but at times, it makes me wish for a blazing fast dial-up connection

My first modem long ago on my commodore 64 was 300 baud, whoa that was slow..........no internet back then either, just Bullitonboards for contact.

Ok, ya it sucked.

If we were all still stuck with dial up the internet would no longer exist.

What can you do on 56K now anyway? Maybe search google and look at the links that you *could* click on, if you wanted to wait an hour for any of them to load.... but that's all I could think of. I remember surfing the dsmtalk forum on dialup. You had to really NEED an answer to spend all that time asking and searching.

16 MB Cable Modem here at the house.
3 bonded T-1's at the office for about 4.5 MB
And supracentral (the server SM is hosted on) is really limited by its network card & processor as the upstream fiber connections are faster than any single box could ever saturate.

I think the last time I had dial up was in the 1990's...
