uhh I know I know I know, im sure everyone heard this a million times but I seen and heard different things. well im putting in a HKS MHG this weekend and i can get the head resurfaced but the block is another question. I really don’t want to pull the whole engine and take it somewhere even though i know its the best way. But the supra being my only car and not having much time is against me. But could i just get the head shaved and leave the block by itself. And I know all about lapping, I went to numerous performance shops around me and when I asked about lapping they thought I was nuts. No one knew what I was talking about. So any trick of the trade or the truth and bust my ass and pull the 7m out.

Thanks for any replies.

Philly.
Use 2 things...Gasket Remover and a GOOD Gasket Scrapper....should clean that surface really nicely....did the job for me. brake cleaner will help for finally touches....just keep working it with the scrapper, dont use any other scrappers cause they suck.
Make sure your block is fine, no cracks or warpage.
You should be fine.

Resurfacing is always better imho.
Costs a little more, but while you're there you can take a look at your other internals also.

However, if you use the brake quiet,, or permatex coppercoat in a spray can, you "should" be ok.
But if your changing the headgasket because it blew, and it blew because you have a hairline crack in the block... your screwed unles you pull it have it magnafluxed, and then replaced. So I hope your block isn't cracked.
