If your car is an '86 then I assume that it's an NA. It will have the W58 transmission, which will not work for the R154 that comes connected to the 1JZ. If you had an R154 already, then it would work fine.

You will also have a 4.300:1 differential. If you're in the States, then it's probably an open differential as well. (If your car is a Canadian model, or your have the "sport package" then you would have a limited slip differential.)

I don't know about interchangeability if your car is an automatic, but I'd assume that it would not work.

Auto uses a different driveshaft from both the W58 and R154 manual trans. The shaft for the manual trans will bolt right in though.

Oh and also, you might have an easier time finding parts if you consider your car an 87'. Most parts places have the 86' listed as being the older body style MKII chassis because the MKIII wasn't put on sale till halfway through the year in 86'.

So to clarify, there are three different DS's. R154, W58 and auto.
Check out Shaftmasters, they make a really good 1 and 2-piece DS.
