Do different bearing companies matter when choosing rods/mains?

reason i ask this, i that i have federal mogul mains (which are just like stock) and i was wondering if there really is a difference in which bearing company you choose. Thanks in advance guys.

To me, the Clevites are simply a crutch, for lazy people. I prefer Toyota bearings. The reason people use the super "strong" bearings, i.e. Clevite 77's is that they are unable to put a quality tune to their vehicle, or they over stretch the fuel injectors ability, and detonate. And Detonation is a bearings worst nightmare, and primarily the only time damage will happen. When a cylinder detonates, it forces the small cushion of oil out, and then allows metal to metal contact and creates a minor flat spot. Repeat this many times over, and poof, rod knock.

There isn't a better bearing for longevity then the Toyota bearings, if you have quality engine managment and will spend the money to have the tune right. If you skimp on your fuel managment or fuel system, go with a bearing that will withstand your abuse.

last time i checked i thought clevite did not make the bearings for ours cars. kinda of like the brembo rotors where they outsourced it and repackaged it

It doesn't matter which one you use. Just depends on how anal you want to be.

Yeah, someone please tell me how the Clevites are for lazy people just because they are stronger. Tri-metal is tri-metal, the bearings don't touch, and the surfaces of the bearing doesn't deform unless something touches it (dirt, grit, no oil pressure, detonation), and that's for any bearing.

Just use whatever he can and save yourself some time.

Let me further expand, how many clevite sizes are there? Standard and oversized. Toyota has 5 standard, and 5 over sized. Able to get much better clearances with that.
If you have Dirt, Grit, or lack of oil pressure, it goes back to operater error, a properly running engine will have had all dirt and grit filtered out long before it would cause a problem assuming the person changes their oil and uses a quality filter.

Thank You and MDC, you guys gave me some peace of mind. But however, what i meant to say was having for example federal Mogul mains and maybe like Kings or Clevite's as rods. I guess i should word it better next time
