Lately i have been thinking about getting rid of my rear seats. I never have anyone back there and when i do theres so little room that its really pointless.

I want to ditch the rear seats but i also want it to still look pretty clean. I saw ideal's thread and that looks awesome but i just want something simple. A plywood piece or something with carpeting. Im also still on stock sound system so im not looking to incorperate subs or anything into the design.

Anyone else out there have a "rear seat delete" setup aside from the other recent thread.

Ideas, pictures, and advice would be appreciated.

EDIT: I searched... found ideals thread... and decided it wasnt for me... so feel free NOT to flame me thanks :)

I took my seats out last night. Had the bottoms out too, and thought it looked like crap w/ the sound denting intact. The rear seat bottoms are one piece and they really do not weigh that much at all. So, I put the bottoms back in. I think it looks clean and I served my main purpose - to shave weight, and oddly enough it looks pretty cool. I like the idea of the dakota trays - very inventive and clean.

But ........
A) I don't like the way the Dakota trays look (no offense).
B) The trays have to weigh close to what the seat bottoms do.
C) I still have the option to stick someone in my back seats for very very short trips.

Just my 2 cents :icon_conf

This is the setup i was saying i liked... extremely well put together... very durable(the extra compartments add structural security)... and clean as hell.

Personally im not doing it to save weight... im doing it because i have never liked the idea of the mk3 having rear seats as they are pretty pointless. This looks extremely clean... kinda reminds me of the 2 seater 300zx if you have ever seen the interior of one.

If i shed a few pounds in the process... cool.
