Disconnected battery...low idle and afc neo

2 part question.

1. Just got picked up a 91 turbo that's was running a tuned apexi afc neo. The other day I disconnected the battery terminals to clean off the acid build up. After cleaning it I reconnected and tighten the terminals. I go to start the car and it idles like crap and occassionally dies with the car not moving.
Is this normal?

2. The other thing i am not sure of is when i disconnected the terminals did I also erase the tuned settings that was stored on the afc?

Anyone experience this problem?

no the afc should store the settings no matter what unless you reset it from the screen. but just drive it it might need time to relearn its self.

Very true. The AFC, has a built in ECU and keeps memory, even if there is no energy going to it. Just drive it, and also check nothign came disconnected in the car, check all vacuum lines.

If you still have some huge problems, let us know. Just don't mess with the AFC

yup...your tccs needs to relearn...takes a little bit but should comeback soon.

Be very careful boosting in this situation. I'll bet the AFC was "tuned" with the previous learned values in the TCCS...now that it's tuned with the base factory values, it's possible to go lean. It might not go back to where it was due to the difference in signal the TCCS is learning from now. Watch your AFR...you might need to readjust the AFC after a bit.

This is one of the pitfalls of using a piggyback fuel controller

I've been driving her pretty easy these past couple of days given what happened. Everything appears to be ok, like some have indicated it just needed to relearn itself. It still dies at times but this was happening before i disconnected the battery. Any ideas on this, could it be a weak battery or alternator?

What exactly do you mean by dying? low idle or just out of no where it dies?

Is your BOV vented to the atmosphere?
