Dirty rims

Greets all--

I have nearly twenty year old aluminum (I think) rims on this Supra and they are stained by brake dust. What is the most effective method for removing the stain? Also, I've been considering painting the stock rims black. Any thoughts or suggestions on paint brands? Is it something better done professionaly? Better yet, is painting the rims something that can be done?

That the paint i have, sand over your rims with some 600 grit sand paper before you paint.

brake dust is really easy to get off with some simple break dust remover... spray it on and let it sit for a while, wash off, then repeat.
