err umm are they really dirty prints? gritty?I dont see why they would be if you are torquing your gasket down so tight, but i may be wrong. I say the cleaner it is though, the better seal.

not dirty prints... but you can see them... clean prints... just prints!! lol. i was reading somewhere about how it has a sticky surface that needs to be CLEAN for it to seal all the way... just trying to get some input

hmm, see if just a dry shop towel can wipe it up, something lint-free.

Be careful using any cleaners as some (probably most) will break down the coating that seals it.

Maybe some water and dish soap? Just a guess, seems safe

DONT USE DISH SOAP!
it has a tendancy to remove just about everything from metal, including sealing surfaces and even paint.

Yeah, get a nice clean micro-fiber rag and lightly wipe the thing. As long as there are no large particles you should be ok.

I say bring the HG to a lab and see exactly who owns the prints in case of something happening. :biglaugh:

Give it a quick wipe down is all.

Thats what you use when you're cleaning off the old sealant on a used HG, when you're getting ready to use brake quiet, or some other sealant

I hear if you rub it down with diesel a bit then put a torch over it immediately afterwards, distributing it around evenly, it makes a real nice seal. :icon_bigg
Try it, I hear it works.
