Sounds like the engine is from an 89+ supra, the reason for the different motor mounts. As far as the throttle body, auto's had different throttle bodies than manual cars. Try posting pictures, it would help us determine what parts you need to swap.

Well, if you have an 88, and you say the one you just purchased has different mounts, than I would say the one you just purchased is newer based on the mounts. However 89+ mounts could have been placed on a pre 89 engine.

Another way to tell is to look at the block. Here is thread describing some of the differences.

I believe IJ wrote a thread about the the differences, I cant seem to find it at the moment.

No EGR components on a JDM motor (They should be installed if the JDM motor didnt come with a JDM ecu) , Coolant Rail is different, oil pressure sender is different (should be changed to a USDM version), throttle body should be changed over to USDM version. Other than that, they are identical.

^ He pretty much nailed it. You'll also need to switch over the thermostat housing to have the extra port for the BVSV.

The oil pressure sensor on the "new" JDM engine is also different. You will fry your guage unless it's swapped out.
