I have had this problem for a while with my supra. When I drive it around for a while, maybe about 15mins or longer, it runs perfect. But here is where it messes up. If I shut off the engine for about 15mins, and try to restart it, it dies. Sometimes it barely makes it. It cranks perfectly, but then I watch my RPMs and it bounces like crazy for a split second, and the engine shakes irradicaly, then it just dies.

It only does this when I restart it after about 15mins of driving. Cold starts are fine. And if I drive it, then let it sit for about an hour it seems to be fine. I dont know what it could be! I JUST had my HG done, I just got my car back today. And I was praying that by a miracle the problem would be fixed, but its still there. Does anyone know what it could be?

86.5 NA - new alternator, new belts, new HG, new temp sensor, fairly new battery.

Check your wiring on the CPS. Mine was bad on the CPS itself from the housing to the connector...the insulation was brittle & cracked. Heat seemed to affect it. Sometimes it worked fine, other times it just died. I figured it out by wiggling the wires and was able to cause it/fix it. Seems it was shorting on the housing or between the wires.

The CPS wiring that goes across the front of the motor, behind the cam gear plate can cause the same thing.
