Okay just finished redoing the bearings and put a larger turbo on. Everything is well, starts and idles just fine, but as soon as I hit the gas pedal the engine dies.

I'm not sure what the problem is. Timing?

you more than likely are having this problem from the lack of intercooler pipes, afm not plugged in etc etc.... if the timing was good before its more than likely good now.

Oh no, everything is hooked up now, intercooler pipes, everything. I had to redo the timing belt and never used the timing gun to check it, however.

I just moved the timing bolt up without the gun and it seems to stumble less, but I'm still not sure what the problem is because if I hit the gas quickly it'll stumble, but if I push the gas slowly it won't stumble.

If your engine timing is off, it would idle horrible, and be hard to start.

If you open the throttle and the AFM doesn't increase the signal to the ECU, you will go way lean, and yes, possibly stall. This could be your problem.

double check that your afm is plugged in and if so check the wiring. next benchtest the afm itself per the TSRM to make sure its within spec. if you need a new one drop me a pm

Ok I figured it out. Stupid me forgot to reconnect the AFM signal wire which I had previously spliced the SAFCII into. Problem solved.
