well this is what i get for forcibly removing my exhaust housing from the center (even though the chip is on the compressor side). i really hope to not have to buy a new one. could i be alright still using this? is this a matter of air leaking out or what?

well you did break it, lol.
Hmm i would think it would be a small problem due to one of the seals being in the general area. PM MDC, he should be able to tell you if its a huge problem or not.

i dont think you ruined it acutally. you can get a new backingplate usually. that part doesnt spin at all guys, its just the backing plate to which the compressor housing bolts. you can try and use it and see if thing will bolt up and seal correctly, if it leaks send it out for a rebuild pretty much.

Yeah, just to clear it up; that part doesnt spin. I cant afford a rebuild so its either going to be hopefully just getting a 1. used center 2. used whole ct-26 or 3. put it back in and hope i dont screw more up. even if i had it rebuilt, how could they possibly repair that part without replacing the entire center? The "plate" part of it is apart of the whole center.

MKIIINA - thanks for some hope lol

Based on what can be seen in the picture, It will be fine. My old one was broke worse then that and was fine. As lond as no part of the break extends into the O-ring area and beyond then you'll be fine.

Take more pictures. I can't see how far into the center the backing plate is broken.

If it's just a bit of that backing plate is broken.. I won't worry about it. Put it together and see what happens.

Heres another picture. Its only broken into that first ridge. The housing still definitely holds yet. The seal will still be in contact with another surface so I'd think it would still work, but I dont know for sure or anything. The left side of the area broken of is the little half circle used to determine the position of the housing.

Well I was informed by an expert (thanks, MCD) that I should be alright *as long as* its not cracked or broken over the seal ridge. When I put it back in (in about a month or so) I'll post up how it goes if others are ever in this situation.
