I spent all day at the auto show today. lots of cool stuff, but what i found realy disapointing was the couple hours I spent talking to a couple guys working the toyota display. They told me the Supra name IS comiing back, but it wont be till 2007 at the very earliest, likely 2009 or mid 2008 as an 09 model, which i could deal with. What I didnt like was that he told me it was gonna retail for upwards of 70k, would not be an inline 6, possibly not a turbo, possibly AWD, and maybe even a hybrid. I'm sad now, someone come ressurect my 87 turbo so I can stop crying. On a brighter note, all three guys I was talking to own MKIII supras, which i thought was cool.

i got lots of good pics as well, have to get them developed and get a picture cd though cuz i couldnt find my digital. Today was just a scouting run, basicly walked through saw everything and took lots of pics, ill be back a couple more times to realy examine things. If any1 wants to meet up and go, hit me up, its my favorite thing of the year, tops both chritmas and my b-day, lol. My first impression was kinda dissapointing though, nothing too out there. Though nissan did have a pretty cool concept car.

Maybe there just saying that for the element of surpise all this time just to piss people off. Cause they have to know that people are going to be upset when they find out that the supras no longer an I-6, turbo and the AWD system will probly be simulare to the GTR's And as long as people are talking about it good are bad the hype gets higher and higher.

watch toyota come out with something so uninspected like an new desinged Inline 8 twin turbo.

from what i have understood, it will have a v6, and some other option (probably v8) but the bigger/better of the 2 will be part of the lexus line. again, these are just rumors from here @ the dealership. i am almost willing to bet, the next "super sports car" from toyota will be a hybrid awd which = $$$$$$$$$

i beilive the supra should keep in the "evo, sti, 350z" territory and not be above 40 thousand....of course itll kick there asses though. I would hate to see a 10 cylinder or a v8.....its would put me into depression....

LOL... these threads always stir up the populace.

I think you can stop hoping for another I-6 right now. Toyota will design this car to be a good to fantastic performer, but there is no room for nostalgia in their design plans. What engine do they manufacture right now that can handle a lot more ponies? It isn't an I-6 because they don't make them anymore, for any car.

As for cost, they've already put a Supra on the market at over $40k, and that was 8 years ago, so don't expect a new model to cost less.

I guess there are lots of rumors about the next Supra. I read Toyota will introduce a new Supra in late 2007 or early 2008. As far as price, they were shooting in the $30 to $40 range to take on the Nissan 350 and Infinity G35. I did read that they were looking a a hybird 8 cylinder, and might badge an upscale version as a Lexus. Guess we'll all have to wait.

Oh I think the Supra's coming. The only question is in what form.
With Nissan being very successful with the G35 coupe and 350Z, and a high end Skyline coming to America in 2007, Toyota has to respond with something.
Anyone at Toyota will tell you that its not going to happen, but thats what they said about the Lexus IS. Toyota seems much more competitively driven ever since the Civic demolished any attempts of making the Corolla a success.
