I was just reading through the thread about the guy being beheaded on the bus. A few people in the thread (and not just in that thread, others regaurding the same topic on other forums) constantly stress how people should be very upset and pissed off this happened, and they blame it on the fact were are all "desensitized" ( im not trying to single anyone out by any means, just using it as an example as many people share the opinion out there)

That's a bunch of shit IMO. Desensitized from what? news stories, movies, video games? Am I supposed to feel bad for some guy i don't even know? Fuck that! Yes its bad, that sucks, and im sure a lot of people are hurt by it but if someone wants to crack a joke at it, have at it. Its not like they are saying it to the family or something.

IMO the majority of the wealthier countries (US, Europe, ETC ETC) all had hymenoplasty in the 1900's, and it just recently with the introduction of extreme violence on TV and video games the world is starting to "loosen" up again.

IIRC, it wasn't all that long ago where towns would have huge get togethers to watch people hang or be beheaded and much much worse. Places where men could walk up to any random woman, married or not, old or young and rape them and there would be no repercussions. There are still many places like this in the world but poeple don't want to hear about it b/c they just want to stay in there little bubble where nothing terrible can happen. :3d_frown:

Another thing is I just can't stand those people who blame media, movies, games, tv shows etc for violence these days. If anything, its our own fault for not informing kids that bad things actually happen in this world and just let them know what's wrong and right. Maybe then kids or even adults wouldn't turn to these sources for possible violent 'solutions' that would never work in real life.

While I don't know if I agree with the rest of your post, this part is definately true.

I love how they blamed music, video games, ect for the Columbine shootings, when all you had to do is look at the parents to see who was responsible.

Walk around any mall these days. You'll see pre-teens walking around unsupervised and they have cell phones. Ever wonder why they get into drugs and sex?

Our society is starting to crack, it's only going to get worse...

EDIT: why is this in the VIP room?

the worst part is, now that the teens have the freedoms from cell phones and such and parents losing track of them now they're trying to retrofit tracking devices to teens. I see why they would but wheres the privacy and trust at the same time?

regaurding VIP room, eh, i figured maybe someone might get their panities in a bunch or something, DT, feel free to move it.

If my parents could track my phone when I was younger (or especially so now) I'd have just given them the phone back, that's complete bullshit. If you were a good parent you'd be able to trust your kids to keep out of trouble no matter where they went. My two cents on that.

I agree 100% with the first post, I know people that get affected personally by that kind of stuff, and I know people (like myself) that can look at it, say WTF and go on with their day. If it happened in person, that might be a different story, but as is... Whoop de do. If anything, history desensitized us, not the media.

Not to mention hearing it or reading it is nothing compared to seeing pictures of it...

I've seen HORRIBLE pictures from car wrecks and in that case it sinks in instantly that that was a person.

Hearing some monotone news reporter or reading it in the newspaper makes it sound like a far away issue.

I'd tend to agree with alot that's in this thread. Tracking kid's phones aren't the answer. My mom and dad got along just fine as teenagers without any tracking devices.

In the end, what good would it do anyway? "Oh, John's at Billy's house, I hope they're playing well together!", when they're in his backyard firing off rounds with a 9mm training up for a school shooting.

IMHO, it's worse than not knowing... because it's a subliminal message to your child telling them you don't trust them worth a damn, and in a way, it's an insult as such. Do we really think children are going to stand around and take it?

Probably not.
