So, I was just informed that my shop has a volunteer opportunity for a deployment to AirBase X (can't say, but a good deployment). It starts the beginning of the year for 4 months or so. I need to tell my boss' soon if I want to go or not. It is going to be an easy job over there sitting behind a desk the whole time. So, I'll probably still be on here the whole time.
Here's my arguments on the decision.
Pros- I can probably leave there with over $10,000 because of tax free, I get my housing allowance ($1150/month), maybe hostile fire, food allowance ($340/month), and my regular pay. I'll get to see more of the world. I'll also miss the NJ winter again like I did already this past winter.
Cons- I'll be away from family and friends, won't get to work on the Supra, and I'll be living in dorms (which isn't too bad I guess).
Thanks for helping me out.
