DDP question

I have heard that after the install of a DDP, the boost pressure is raised from where it was before. For example, the boost pressure was set to 10 lbs and after the DDP, he was seeing around 14 lbs. What could cause this? Weak wastegate spring? Does this only happen when re-routed? Will this happen no matter what?

I really want a DDP but my stock fuel system isn't up to 14 lbs of boost. Any suggestions or personal experiences would be great. Thanks.

I was around 9psi with stock downpipe cat...

Then I put the DDP-testpipe on and I was around 9.5psi...

So thats with stock elbow, dp, and cat? Do you have a cat back? Did you put on a high flow cat with the DDP? Is it re-routed?

i thought most people had problems with boost creep after they installed the DDP, maybe I was mistaken

I installed the DDP, test pipe, and Blitz Nur Spec exhaust all at once, and had the boost creep from 6psi to ~8.5psi in the upper rpms. I'm assuming the main culprit is a too-small wastegate flapper and hole that just can't bypass enough exhaust gases with the increased flow of a full 3" exhaust. I don't think you should have any problems of reaching 14psi as long as you don't set your initial boost too high.

Also, this amount of boost creep is way better than what I had initially with my Talon. After putting in a downpipe and testpipe with a Mitsu "Big" 16G turbo, I was getting boost creep from a set 14psi up to 20psi in the upper rpms. That was cured after I ported out the wastegate hole, added a 40mm flapper, and added a custom dump tube to the o2 housing (to separate wastegate exhaust like the DDP does).
