Damn those new Z06's are fast!

Ok, i wasnt racing, but i was there as two different cars tried to take on a brand new corvette Z06. First a older nissan sentra SRD20 swap pulled up to the line, he ran a 12.7 here in denver. Had the slip to prove it. They start from a stop........the corvette pulls about 10 cars on him in about a half mile. So the corvette is feeling pretty mighty. So my friend with an 04 wrx, fast fucking car, 24 psi on a FP red turbo, fully built with GC8 gears, pushing over 400 wheel. This time they go from a 45 mph roll, my buddy holds at the corvettes back bumper through 3rd gear, then all of a sudden the corvette jumps ahead like he hit boost or something. crazy, by the end of the race around 110 mph the corvette pulled like 4 cars on him. moral of story, dont mess with the new Z06, you will most likely get destroyed!

There's guys on here that will eat a vette up. I know most of us wouldn't stand a chance, but I would give one the opportunity to destroy me. I'm just a glutton for punishment though................lol

^very true, but i could not believe how fast this car was, and it is stock. i mean an 11.7 out of the box is damn impressive. i was in awe of this car. There is only a few cars in the denver area that would even come close to this thing. oh yeah, and the fucking kid that owns the vette is only 20!

Well first your friend with the WRX raced a RWD car from a roll when his AWD butt shoulda went from a dead stop. The new Z06 is a bad car, this sounds as they it may have been modded a bit, that or your friends cars aren't quite what they claim, in any case yes the C6 Z06 is fast, the C5 Z06 is fast but not as much so. I love my mk3 and mk4 Supra's but you gotta love those new vettes, they put many euro cars to shame like porsches and ferrari's.

yeah, he should have raced from a stop and he wanted to but he was scared to go to where the corvette had just raced the Sentra just incase someone called it in ya know. so he just figured he would give it a shot from a 45 roll. If they went from a stop, i think it would have been closer but i still think the Z06 would have pulled on him. the kid in the Z06 is a sponsered race car driver so i guess you could say the kid knows how to drive too. but also he did say he dyno tuned the stock ecu and pumped like 15 extra wheel hp out of it some how.

A guy here in Mt Vernon raced one in his evo from a dig and kicked his ass .Dont really know what is all done to the evo . but it ran a 12.02 at the track no to long ago

my uncles got a couple C5's (one for his wife). There's a guy at the local track on m/t drag radials running low 11's in a Z06, he's got 2, both yellow, black leather, 6spd's...identical in every way. My uncle cuts like 11.4's in his 06 c5.

2006 is the first year of the C6's... and 07 is the first year of the C6 Z06(7liter 505hp) that is being discussed.

The C6 Z06 looks like the first Vette I would really consider buying, Exhaust and a Supercharger and it would be one of the meanest things on the road.

if you are going to upgrade just go with the ligenfilter (spelling?) twin turbo. 1000 hp. that should be just pocket change. isnt it around 70,000 for the full ligenfilter setup?

Theres a video of a new z06 racing a modded Ford GT floating around somewhere. The stock z06 put down 488rwhp, and on top of how light and well designed that chassis is...yea I'm with Joe.

OneJoeZee nailed it right on the head! Anytime an ex Trans-Am driver like Tommy Kendall says that it could destroy anything he has driven, with maybe one exception, the McClaren F1... I'd say that was FAST!!! It's not always about just HP... there is a whole lotta' balance of everything, and big ponies, to boot with the new Z06. But there definately should be something for 80K!!!:biglaugh:

I think I read somewhere, that they run 11.47 et, @ 127mph...bone stock off the showroom floor! Correct me if I'm wrong.
