You know...after hearing that line in Super Troopers ("I'll take a chinchilla!")...I have always been under the impression that they were a type of burrito.

You learn something new everyday.

HA!

They're also used to make very expensive (though in my opinion, not terribly attractive) fur coats.

isnt it realy bad for people to pet them allot and doesnt water hurt their scalp, someone told me you have to bathe them in some sort of ash.

if so +1 for putting in the time, patience, and effort, i'll stick with my two mice.

few dozen more and you'll have a coat.

But seriously a friend of mines fiance bought a chinchilla, those things are crazy. I know they had a hard time finding it after they let it run around the house

Currently, in my house, I have.... :: counts on fingers ::

Ten chinchillas.

I have three boys that I took to my mom's house because I ran out of room and I still have a giant cage there.

I REALLY need to build a couple more cages.

I have some fuzz-butts for sale if anyone's interested. :p

...and it takes about 150 chinchillas to make a coat.

I pet mine all the time. :) Although when preparing for a show, I try not to handle them for about three weeks.

And yes, they take "dust baths" in volcanic ash.

Here's Mayvar and Porsche taking a dustbath:

What do they taste like?
Do they come with any type of seasoning?
Will you gift wrap them?
How long will it take to get to 37187 using UPS ground?

What do they taste like? I don't know. I imagine they'd be awful stringy. There really isn't much meat to them.

Do they come with any type of seasoning? No, but they come with a week's worth of food.

Will you gift wrap them? I can attempt to see if they'll tolerate wearing a bow. There's a lady on one of the chinchilla forums that gets her animals to tolerate playing dress-up.

How long will it take to get to 37187 using UPS ground? However long it takes you to get here and get back. I do not ship. :)

Believe it or not som epeople used to actually call me chinchilla because it rhymes with my last name...kinda a crappy thing to be called, but after seeing those littel guys, how could i mind it?? :D

Police Chief Grady: I will have the enchilada platter with two tacos and no guacamoles. Mike?
Local Officer Rando: Yeah, chief. I'll have a CHINCHILLA!
Rabbit: I don't get it. Tacos?
Thorny: They think I'm Mexican.
Rabbit: You're not?
