So I ordered a pair of headlight covers from RacingRaven on Ebay. They have vented intakes and look pretty good. I am just concerned about color match and installation. I gave the company the correct color code, but they tend to paint fiberglass dark. Also installing is not a big deal but you do have to mark where the screws are? You need to drill carefully to make holes in the correct spot. Does anyone have any suggestions about where I should have this done? Would my mechanic be able to do it, or would I have to go to a body shop? I have a drill but you need a small bit, and I am sure if you are not careful the thing could break. I basically did this cosmetic upgrade because I got some damage to one of my headlights. I went to my local body shop. Guy didn't want to touch car because he felt he would not be able to get a proper color match painting just one headlight cover. I saw these headlight covers on ebay and they looked pretty nice.
I know many people have done vented headlight upgrades. How do you get color to match? Is it better to not have racing raven paint it or bring it to you local body shop? I gave them the correct color code. Just wondering if paint color looks different on fiberglass than it does on steel. Anyone with experience in this please chime in.
Also taking the thing apart is not easy. The black piece comes off very easily. Those 4 screws come out easily with a Philips head. However once you have done that, the two screws on either side that hold the thing in place are VERY TIGHT. Tried a Philips head and it will not budge. How do I get these screws off? Would my mechanic have a tool to do that?

I got the covers and they do not match the color of my car. I should have ordered the unpainted fiberglass, but the shops around my area charge ridiculous prices. I thought I could give racing raven the correct color code and it would match. Unfortunately life does not work like that. They told me they are going to redo it and paint it the dark blue pearl that it should be. It came out nice but the color is just too dark. Looks more like a purple with black. No blue. So I don't think I am going to be installing anything for a while. May just try to fix my headlight myself. Local body shop guy does not want to touch driver's side headlight cover. Has some etching in clear coat and a dent. He does not think he could get it to match other side. He probably can't. Will just have to live with it. The guy is an ahxxle. Cars get towed to his place and he takes out a good battery and puts in a lousy one. Unfortunately this is the way people are in my area. Cut throat. This guy is not going to help me. May go to a body shop in another area. I don't do business with anybody in my town, things just don't work out well with these people. Racing raven is nice enough to give it another try free of charge. But matching this color at this point is going to be almost impossible. I sent them pics of what the headlights look like. But colors look different in pics. Just need more blue. It's a shame.....the product came out pretty nice. Actually better than I expected. But you need a body shop to paint both to match your car. Ordering them prepainted....not a good idea. Will probably have to ask them for a partial refund if second set don't match. that's life
