So I know how small the diameter of the exhaust pipe is, and the fact that it is crush bent, well im thinking of scrapping the exhaust and going for something custom, i was planning to get an aftermarket exhaust but i might be able to get away with a custom made one, im thinking of going 3" diameter piping with elbow pipes or getting one mandrel bent, then adding a high flow cat along with it, how much HP gain can i expect from doing this and what should i keep in mind if i go the do it yourself exhaust? thanks

you gain the most from the downpipe/elbow combo downpipes. a cat-back will add HP, but spend more money on the downpipe first. there are HUGE gains to be made over the stock downpipe setup.

I made a custom exhaust for mine. I didn't exit striagh out of the bumper. it was angle like alln the cool kids. Lol. Um after the cat I went striaght back and put one 15 degree bend in right abour the rear lower control arm. And then welded hangers on. It is still kinda of a pita.

3.14 hp :biglaugh: JK Downpipe and elbow have been proven 15+ hp at the wheels. Turbos like to exhale as smooth and easy as they can.

Not entirely true...

After having a DDP, intake, and hardpipes, putting the high flow cat and 3" exhaust on made a HUGE difference...

DDP helped, but without an exhaust it won't flow enough.

If you're not turbo, a free flowing exhaust is going to be LOUD, fair warning...
