custom exaust or aftermarket

i was recently at a shop gettin a new flexpipe on a volvo( dealership quoted 1500$:: angry : but anyways the manager said that he could fabricate me a custom 3'' exaust from the turbo elbow, all stainless steel for around 300...is this a good price...also where can i buy a muffler that is cheap and quiet??

Beware exhaust shops typically (yes i know some do offer mandrel) use crush bends in their piping. if you're going for extreme flow, then crush bent is bad. now if he is going to do it right with mandrel bends and the whole nine yard in stainless..... let me know were he is at, he's got my business. As for a muffler, I've had pretty good luck with borla not on my supra but they seem to be a good muffler at a decent price and are relatively quite until you romp on the gas. if you want super quite just put a factory exhaust on it. There are millions of different muffler styles out there, just look aound and find some you like, someone else is bound to have the same muffler and can comment on it's sound for you. BTW $300 for a full SS system is fairly decent especially if he's doing a downpipe with it. Just make sure he puts a flange or two in so if you ever need to do any driveshaft work, you won't have to cut the exhaust to get to it. ( been awhile since i was undeer my supra the exhaust does go across the DS right?)

300 bucks does sound like a crush bent. but if not deffenetly worth it. yea the exhaust does crows the ds.

my brother got the local exhaust shop to do his. they were full stainless with mandrel bends from the 3 inch downpipe to an ebay muffler. 200$ for the whole job and they put in their own flanges. looks great and sounds good. cheaper than buying a name brand kit.

Cheapo looking good muffler. I prefer straight through muffled with fiberglass.

i'd recommend a divorced downpipe from one of the venders on here...proven better than the standard 3" DP/elbow...and if you get it from BIC (becauseican) he can put a v-clamp adapter on it. then you just replace the elbow/DP with the new one - get the other half of the v-clamp adapter welded to ur current exhaust...and use that till you get the $$$ to do the rest in 3" from that guy. which would be less of course.

here's the setup i'm going to be getting (it's bigger but same idea): 3.5" turbo-back

3.5" DDP > v-clamp > hi-flow cat > v-clamp > pipe with resonator > muffler

with this i can swap in a test pipe in place of the cat anytime i'm not getting emissions tested
