HEY!! ok... so im coming up to a problem.. ive got the new master and slave clutch cylinders ordered, should be in tomorrow. but i dont want to use my old lines as the fittings are sezed on the old cylinders... instead of buying stock ones, i want to make some. i was thinking of using SS braided lines, or nylon braided brake line material..

my question is this:

If i use SS braided lines, what kind of fittings would i need to connect the lines to the cylinders? if i used the nylon Brake line stuff (which ive been told could work, but i seem skeptical of changing hard line into soft lines) what fittings would i need?

i want to get this car running by friday, and so far im pretty much on schedule except for the clutch lines.. eek help me out here!

If you're going full soft line just take the Master and Slave and an accurate measurement of the length to a brake place and they'll make you a line.

If you're just replacing the stock flex line I think SS or maybe HPF stock them, if not just take the stock line to the brake place.

I was thinking about doing this today.
You would need to use a standard brake line size which is either -3an or -4an.

I didnt look too deeply, but I didn't see any 180* -AN fittings in -3 or -4.
That's the most important part, too. You would need two. One at the master cylinder and one on the slave cylinder.

If you can still get Toyota lines, get them while you still can. I checked on a bunch of brake lines and a lot are discontinued. Gather ye rosebuds while ye may!!!

I have a Speed-Source.net stainless clutch line that I'd be willing to get rid of. Used for 1 year, total.

But... tomorrow's Friday, so that's a no-go.

Since it's the clutch, you could use aluminum 90* elbows. I'd use only steel on brakes, but the clutch is much lower pressure. Baker Precision has 90* elbows. I'm sure someone makes and sells steel ones. It's not a strange part. You'll want -3 hose, I'd say, not -4. Pegasus (www.pegasusautoracing.com) has preassembled and tested hose assemblies in many lengths, with many types of fittings on either end.

Have fun!

bakers precision already has a clutch line made for the r154 since they do all the lines on my car they keep the stock lines to replicate in to nice braided lines with earl's fittings and also put sleeves on the lines too.

you don't need ANY 180 degree fittings. I made a -3AN ss line for my car a month or so ago. I used 1 90 degree fitting off the master cylinder and had the line made the exact length of the stock hardline, since you don't need to make all the bends with the soft line as the hard line does, you're new soft line will reach just fine and not need a 90 or 180 on the slave cylinder. works like a charm.

so i just need 2 90* fittings, and a length of ss braided hose.. .. -3an is that the exact size of the fitting to the cylinders? or just the tube size? are the fittins like 9 or 10mm?
