I just purchased my new turbo and plan on reinstalling it today. My question is, on the tsrm it states to just torque down the nuts to 9ftlbs where the bottom of the turbo meets the oil flange. I am using an OEM gasket which has some sort of square edge on one side. What side does that edge face when placing the gasket on? Also would it be bad to use some FIPG for extra assurance between the flange and turbo?

I read a previous post that the FIPG will eliminate any uneven surface gaps when applied the correct way.

Once again, thanks for all the help.

I only use FIPG where the manual says so. Don't try to seconcd guess Toyota. Never saw one leak from the factory. Been a while since had one off. Squared edge? Make sure the holes line up properly for pressure and drain.

i don't see that being an issue there just make sure you don't over do it and use high temp fipg.

turbo companies do not give warrenty if silicone is used. Its can block oil feeds, drains, and internally.
