I'm sure the ct12 is from the 1g-gte which is a lot smaller than the ct12a in physical size, could the internals be similar

Interesting, I never thought about that. You're probably right. I was always under the impression that CT12A was not an official turbocharger name, it was a CT12, but always referred to a CT12A to not confuse it with the CT12B.

With that being said, The internals might very well be similar between the 1G, and 1JZ turbos. Are the center sections the same size? I bet they are, I bet teh only differences are wheels and housings.

Easy on the brakes there newts.....

You can buy kits all day long for those turbos, but unless you have a shop that can balance a ceramic turbine system you're bummed.

...And unless you have a shop that knows how to balance small wheels accurately you're bummed.

Last, the only difference between CT12, 12a & 12b is the bearing width internally. Most of the other parts are identical.

How come nobody has numbers on these upgraded twins. :nono: I know The Doc is working on it, but he can't be the only set of twins that MDC has rebuilt. I want numbers and I want them now!

Sorry but I think Robs turbos were the first and last upgraded twins I will ever build unless the masses just start pouring out crying for upgraded twins.

They cost almost twice as much as going with a good single setup and quite frankly they were a major PITA. If not for Rob's good graces and patience, I doubt the project would have ever been completed.

I think it's a waste of time.

Don't be like me.

Take them off and leave them off. :)

Turbos need to be balanced. A rebuild kit is ok to an extent but once you rebuild them they need to be balance.

I agree with joe, but this might be a quick fixer upper for anyone on a budget. Although I believe it wont last long either.

Wont last long = 10 seconds to 10,000 miles. It just depends on how bad they are out of balance....
