cruise control with FFIM?

Dose any one have it working? I am/want to keep the oem cruise control with my ffim set up. The throttle body is a custom 4". I noticed on the stock cruise control the linkage is like spring loaded, and looks like it doesn’t move with the throttle, it is independent. Then once set the cruse actuator pull the cable tight holding everything in place. Or something along those lines. Dose that sound right? Now for a question is that “independent movement” necessary? Or is it ok for the cruise control cable to connect right to the throttle body cable turning thingy thing? Pic is below. Can I just weld the ball end on or dose it have to move independent? Should the ball end be out farther or level with the edge of the TB linkage? When I was mocking the cable up it looks like it will “bunch up” a little but the cable still looks like it will pull freely.

If I remember right the cruise cable only acts independently so that when you hit the gas pedal it isn't trying to move the cruise cable. You could probably get away with attaching it solidly but you're going to need some slack in the cable I would think.

As for where to mount the lever to the TB…. I would keep it as close to the original as possible but only because you want to keep the proper throw of the actuator. Making it too small might not give you as accurate cruise control and making it too big might max out the actuator, again, not giving you good control.

Don't rigidly mount it as you'll be pulling on the actuator and you'll probably destroy it...

The only option is to use the JDM cruise control that actually moves the pedal and not the throttle...

Well its not pulling on the cable, if anything it is trying to push the cable back into it self. I just tacked the ball onto it for now and will do some testing, to see if it will work, or not. I would like to have it act independently but for now we will try it this way I guess, and redo it or go drive by wire this winter.

here is a quick mspaint of what I'm going to be using. It is just a small aluminum block which clamps around the throttle cable. The cc cable goes through the hole on the right, and when cruise is actuated, pulls the block, thus pulling the throttle cable. There may be some issues with rigidity which I'll have to work out when it is on the car.

That Looks like it will also work. Well I bolted on the head last night so all I have to do is just finish fabing up the hot side of the intercooler piping, weld piping together, and put everything back together. O-ya I also need to pick up a intake gasket and some 1/8" and 1/4" vac. line.

Then I will do some testing.

Do you have any pics. of this set up? Or pic. of a JDM one? I would like to see it and maybe reverse engineer it ;)

I've seen it. In my opinion, the lhd cars don't have the space or the firewall cutouts to install it on our car.

With that said, i'd like to be proven wrong.
