After much searching I still haven't found a definitive answer. I'm planning to upgrade to a momo or similar aftermarket steering wheel. Is there any way to relocate the cruise controls to the dash or elsewhere in an 87? Any part swaps from different years to make this possible? Did all Mk3's have cruise controls on the steering wheel? I've seen photos of the airbag steering wheels that had no buttons. Where are the cruise controls on mk3's with an airbag? Any help would be rad. Cheers! - Brad

Well the wheels with cruise control that dont have the buttons have a stalk on the right side of the wheel.

Not sure of any possibilities for ya, sorry.

I used to have an 87 with a modded cruise control mounted on the bottom of the colum cover. It's just a matter of dis-assembly and install. I have a 91 now,and moved the stalk to the lumbar support button on the center console.

All I did was take my switches apart, buy some buttons from radioshack, and solder them (not directly of course) to the correct resistors on the board. Cruise main has no resistor so its easer, but accel and decel/set do. After that find the correct wires and hook it all up. An ohm meter helps a lot for figuring out if its going to all work or not.

You can try to see if you can find the correct resistors and not rip apart the switches but I couldn't find them.

Then just mount the buttons where ever you want.
