Somehow I don't think these are normal, but I wanted lots of second opinions before I dump it in the trash and try to round up a new one.

Those are bad.
Normal meaning, I've seen just about every CT26 have some cracking around the wastegate hole.

You might experience some boost issues pre-full boost due to more pre-mature venting.

If I were you, I'd source another turbine housing, or upgrade turbos.

I come from a land down under
^ Ditto those are some of the worst I've seen.

And YES it will affect performance as the Gate can't seal so this affects spool.

Cause is the hole needed to be radiused when new and due to the Mass/shape involved all of the stress is concentrated on the hole during expansion/contraction in normal use.

I had planned on getting my turbo rebuilt anyway (bad play in shaft), so I guess I'll check around for a new (or at least much better shape) turbine housing to go along with it.

Thanks for the info. I guessed it was something along those lines, but I have very little experience diagnosing turbo issues. At least I learned something new.

Another place these crack is inside the "snail" on the wheel side. I've seen a rather long crack from the flange to the metal surrounding the wheel. These are hard to see due to carbon build-up.

And, yeah...those wastegate port cracks are really bad. Some of the worst I've seen.

Well, that makes it pretty much unanimous. I'm now in the market for a turbine housing in addition to everything else on my list.... {sigh} And I appreciate the clue on cracks in the snail. I'll keep on eye out for it during the cleaning.

agree with IJ those ARE pretty bad. normally you can get port some of the cracks out to help with increased flow on an upgraded ct but those are beyond repair. time to find a new snail as most turbo rebuilders wont touch one thats in that bad of shape

i have still got a crack very similar to this on my turbo, because i have yet to source out another turbo or someone who can install the new exhaust housing i have for me,

but yes this DOES cause major PITA issues with spooling, i havent had any to really affect any of the actual PARTS yet, so its only hurting my performance what with the boost creep, but this is only what im aware of
