Well yet again I some how managed to kill another CT26( 5th one). Had a ton of smoke on startup/driving/anytime. Pulled off the turbo and found quite a few major cracks throughout it. One major crack inside the exhaust housing about 3-4 inches long and a couple cracks on the wastgate. Also found that the exhaust housing and the downpipe were coated in oil. I tried to take some pictures to show everyone.

My question for everyone. What caused this massive crack in the turbo?

Whats my best option next? I'm not too keen on trying another ct26.

What made you pull the turbo? Ive seen cracks like that in the wastegate in lots of CTs and they didnt have any problems, thats the reason Im asking.

That turbo is cracked because it is A.) Old B.) Seen a million + heat cycles C.) All of the above.

:)

Unless you've sent some sort of FOD down the pipe, I doubt the crack caused the failure.

A)5 used non rebuilt turbos or b)5 rebuilt turbos.

A stop buying used.

b Take it to a qualified shop.

I pulled the turbo due to al ot of smoking at idle/accel/decel. I also have oil showing up between the dp & turbo; and the turbo and exhaust manifold. Figured I start off with the turbo as the root of my problem.

Those turbos were a mix of used, rebuilds ( bad shop in Florida)
