i got a new cps to install is it possible to install this new cps and set it to were the old one was and not set the timing right away. i mean as soon as it get to work and get my hands on a timing light i will set it.

Yes. If you put the new one exactly where the old one is.
You will want to check it with the light too.

its been my experience that if you insert the CPS correctly 10 degrees will pretty much be with the bolt hole in the head lined up in the center of the flange on the CPS.
