i just got an toyota oem hg and arp bolts so i plan on doing the headgasket soon because its blown right now and overheating like a bitch. will i have to have the head resurfaced with an oem gasket? does it just depend on how much its warped? also, what should i tell them that i need done to the head.....resurfaced, milled, machined????

and another problem. when i go to work in the morning, i'll start driving and as soon as i come to the first stop and put the clutch in, the check engine light will come on and my car will die. this happens at every damn stop unless if give it gas to keep it going. so then when im finally done with work at about 5, i start my car up, check engine light will come on and the car dies. after driving it for 30 sec this whole dilemma will cease to exist. no ce light, no stalling, nothing. why would this only happen in the morning? thanks!

resurface the head. its not expensivve to do and you will not complain about HG after that is done. And did youy check your codes for that problem? its failry easy toi do and we can pinpoint you to what exactly it is.

theres the link for the codes. The light will go off because it will then be stored inside the computer. speaking of which i have to reset mine...

doesnt matter when you do it. its stored in the computer until you unhook the battery then it resets. you can check now if you wanted to.

I come from a land down under
If you heat an aluminium head to around 300c and cool it a few times it becomes soft (annealed) once this happens it MAJOR $$$ to strip it and reheattreat it :(

The second you see the temp rise pull over let it cool a bit so it's safe to pull the rad cap START the motor and add coolant while it's idling.

Good luck!

oh shit, thats happend a couple times now. when im on the highway and the temp rises and i'll drive to the next exit and let it cool down, but that has happend a few times. so how much money are we talking to have it reheattreated?
