Couple of stock turbo install questions.

I am putting my turbos back on and i had 2 questions. Well, first, i was putting new elbow on with the stock gaskets, do people really think it will be ok to just use one of the gaskets instead of both on one side? I am just not being able to fit both gaskets on and get it to fit.

The second question is, does anyone know if there was a gasket coming from the block to the turbos? I bolted everything up and noticed that there wasnt a gasket, is that right? Thanks!

Here is where i am talking about, is there suppose to be a gasket there?

Thanks!

Yes there is a gasket between the block and turbos... The exhaust mani gasket. There are two of them. 1 for each side of 3 ports.

Use however many gaskets on the ypipe that you need to get a good seal. If it takes 2 use two on each side. If you only need 1, use one.

no, I think he is asking if their is a gasket between the manifold and the turbo. I am pretty sure their is no gasket where the manifold meets the turbo. At least I am not running a gasket between the stock manifold and my Driftmotion ct26 manifold adaptor, and I have no exhaust leaks. I think the gasket is that ring that is internally in the manifold.

Silly question, but how can i tell if it is fully sealed? Are they almost being used as a spacer?

Well. Put some torque on the nuts. :) If the nuts are fully torqued and you can still see light between the turbo and ypipe, put the other gasket back.

Just use both for insurance. That's what I did.

Yes, there's just a little ring in the stock manifold, not a gasket that covers the full surface area of the flange.

well, both aren't fitting, i cant get the turbos on with both installed. I am thinking i might be able to if i remove one.

Also, i am not sure how they are going to fit once i have the engine in the car again, the downpipe connection is nearly hitting the tranny. Anyone have a similar problem, did it clear? I am pretty nervous, i have to get this car running in the next 2 weeks.
