So I have my head removed from my GTE and plan on removing the camshaft gears. However, when I try and loosen the bolt, they spin as well. I've seen videos online where people use an old timing belt, with a long plank of wood as a stopper. I would try this method but I have not spare timing belt! Any ideas guys?

My second question is, what do you guys recommend to use as a cleaner for the sensors within the thermostat housing? Mine appear to be a bit dirty but I do not want to touch them without any knowledge on how to prevent damage. Or will an antifreeze flush remove most of the dirtiness from the sensors?

Thanks!

I did see those notches on the cams but was too afraid to put anything around them. I will try it with that method tomorrow!

There's the holding the cam with a wrench or using the tool to hold the gear.

Cam gears break easy when using improper tools on them too.
