well... i've been pondering and pondering... and well.. it's not getting me anywhere LOL

first thing... power steering idle up.. doesn't seem to be working

awful steering.. real hard to turn at idle... under acceleration it's fine

was a ga70 with pps
installed 7mgte dash & engine harness (non pps)

hooked up needed wiring for pps computer and connected solonoid in the rack
also tried reversing the solonoid wires but no difference
both vacuum lines are connected to the pump
we are using the original ga70 ps pump

2nd thing
when cold..

when i first crank the car.. it like does one little crank.. stop.. crank brrrrmmmmm
strange... just a little hesitation when cranking
cold rpms are bout 1200 but drop to 1000 pretty quick then down from there

once she's warmed up a little... when driving then stopping... at idle it's quite grumbly and missing... not completely like cylinder dropping.. just sorta grumbling
once she's fully warm it doesn't do it
when in neutral while warmish and i up the revs a bit it doesn't miss a beat... ONLY at idle

3rd hehe
im not boosting her at all for now as i am suspecting it's running lean.. not overly... just yea.. a little bit lean
when in drive o/d off and pulling up a hill it will be sorta like the cat is blocked or something... then all of a sudden it will free up and start moving real well then... the cat blocks again? LOL

so... here for the description LOL
woaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa mmmmmmmmmmmmmm woaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa mmmmmmmmmmm

so woa = moving good
mmm = cat blocking (don't have a cat tho.. but that's what it feels like)

plugs look like they're burning oddly...
Plgworn1_small.jpg

like that but to a lesser degree
new plugs only done 6000kms .8mm gap in the 6 heat range

have stock 7mgte fuel pump, injectors etc

thinking about changing the stock fpr out with my one as i knew it was working well
(guessing the car may be running base fuel pressure permanently)

i think that's all now LOL

so cliff notes

1. power steering idle up not working
2. wierd pause when cranking cold
3. miss ONLY at idle
4. possibly running lean + feels like clogged cat when loading up a hill (don't have a cat tho)

Thanks for any insight :D

1. Are the vaccum hoses connected properly to the power steering?

2. Check your battery connections and starter connections first. I had a similar issue and two problems fixed it. 1) battery connections bad 2) connection at starter loose.

3 & 4. Maybe timing?

thats normal.

this seems to be popping up a lot lately, but heres a shot;

try this: while it is idling (and it idles like shit right?) unplug the AFM and see if it idles with the AFM unplugged.

well....

ps idle up fixed.... pump was naffed :)
swapped in a 7m pump and she's all good :D

timing was at 10deg last time i put a timing light on it... but i'll throw the light on again to double check

and i'll do a code check and see if there's anything new... i'm suspecting there will be an afm code coz i unplugged it today

thanks for ya suggestions so far :)

Sounds really dumb, but... clogged fuel filter?

I was going to suggest vacuum lines or a VSV for some of your other problems, and also to check timing, and to make sure the knock sensors are good, and torqued down correctly.

SupraGirl, I have to say that you whoop ass. A lot of the GUYS here won't even check their plugs and pull codes on their own when they suspect a problem.

hehe thanks :)

wanna see what went wrong when we first had it running.....

fp1.jpg

was having surging problems so i decided to drop the tank... and that's what i found LOL

i cut open the filter and it didn't look like that crud (whatever it was) got thru... but not a bad suggestion... could be why she's just a little leanish

thanks :D
