Hey again. I am just full of questions arent I? :hsugh: I am just trying to learn as much as I can as quickly as I can, being a new Supra owner and all. I am going to be doing a HG at some point and the majority of the ? are related to that. 1. I am curious as to why no one is using head studs instead of bolts? It seems to me that everyone thinks badly of them, how come? I see in Dylans rebuild that he took the cyl. head apart and did valve seals and such, 2. what about the nightmare that is supposed to come along with diassembly and shims and other crazy stuff? Only applicable when machined? else wise just put it back exactly the same way if there were no lifter problems before? and FINALLY!!! God, so many words. :slap: 3. Does any aftermarket company make a "better" upper intake plenum? preferably a front mounted TB style, or only custom? Thanks for all your help so far, and I am sure plenty more later. Sorry for the long post.

1. Lots of people use head bolts. Lots of people use head studs. Studs are a bit of a pain to get the head off while it's in the car, but not impossible by any stretch.

2. It's not a nightmare. :) Just clean the parts and label them with a permanent marker as you disassemble it. Check your clearances when you put it back together.

3. I haven't seen one from a company as yet, but a couple members make and sell these, Ron Ramirez is the only one that comes to mind, but I know there are a few.

Wow, that's one of the cleaner looking ones I've seen. If I'm not mistaken you have relocate the alternator and remove the AC compressor for that one to work, correct?

Hell yeah, I saw that picture the other day while reading your post. That is a nice piece. Is it just a direct bolt on upper plenum? None the less, very nice. Sounds good on all the other answers though. Thanks.

i think studs give you a more acurate torque reading right? i thought i heard that somewhere but i'm not shure. and if your not gonna get new valves or anything like that i would leave it all alone. just give it to the machineist when you get the head milled and let them deal with it. thats what i did.
